Vietnam National Sexuality and Health Symposium: ‘NEGOTIATING SEXUALITIES IN MOVING SPACES’

Through an attempt to promote a more social positive view toward sexuality and to encourage responsible participation of the whole society in realization of sexual rights for all citizens, especially among the minority and vulnerable groups, the Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS) in the collaboration with the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP) will host a National Symposium on ‘Negotiating sexualities in moving spaces’

This activity is within the framework of the Ford-funded Project on ‘Building capacity for improving sexuality and gender in Vietnam’.

OBJECTIVES: The symposium aims to:

- Share new research findings on gender and sexuality;

- Discuss initiatives and experiences in IEC (information, education and communication), policy advocacy, interventions and services surrounding sexuality and sexual health;

Identify priorities in research, interventions, IEC, and policy advocacy concerning sexuality and sexual health

- Strengthen and expand the network working on sexual rights and sexual health

PARTICIPANTS:

The symposium is organized to attract the participation of those who have working experiences and/or interest in the fields of gender, sexuality, reproductive health, sexual heath and HIV/AIDS in Vietnam. They comprise, but not limited to researchers, program officers, advocators, consultants, service providers, media communicators, journalists, lectures, students, minorities and vulnerable group.

The symposium also welcomes and appreciates the participation as well as support of other governmental and international organizations that share the same interest.

CALL FOR PRESENTATION

The organizers would like to invite participants to share research findings, models of intervention projects, and working experiences with self – help (or self-support) and vulnerable groups addressing the above-mentioned topics. Please submit your presentations/ papers before September 15. We also prefer that you follow the presentation formatting guidelines which are attached herewith.

TIME AND VENUE

The symposium will be held in Hanoi from 28th to 29th of October, 2010

FEE AND SCHOLARSHIP

There is no registration or participation fee. All participants will have copies of all the presentations/ papers delivered in the symposium and be invited to lunch. Furthermore, participants will also receive meaningful gifts from the Organizational Board.

A limited number of scholarships will be available for participants from other provinces outside Hanoi intending to attend the Symposium. The scholarship will cover travel expenses and accommodation during the conference. You are thus encouraged to seek funds from other sources.
