| | Project on “An integrated model for responding to Gender-based Violence in Clinic and Community Settings” | | 04:25' AM - Monday, 24/04/2006 | | CIHP has been successful in obtaining financial backing from the Ford Foundation for the Project on ‘An Integrated Model for Responding to Gender-based Violence in Clinic and Community Settings’ commencing April 2006 and to conclude March 2009. The project site is Cua Lo town of Nghe An Province, Viet Nam. The project will seek technical support from Ha Noi provincial Health services, Population Council and other international organizations in the region and globally.
The goal of the project is to contribute to social justice and women’s health and well being in Vietnamese communities by engaging health staff and local organizations in developing and testing interventions to raise community awareness; and identifying and providing supports to GBV victims.
The project has two major components: intervention and research. The intervention component focuses on: fostering a women-friendly, anti-GBV environment within health facilities and communities; increasing health provider’s capacity and effectiveness in identifying, assessing and treating victims of GBV by integrating screening and treatment into existing health care services; developing effective systems for linking community and health system resources to support GBV victims; and instituting the effective documentation, evaluation and dissemination of information to encourage replication of successful GBV interventions. The research component focuses on: identifying problems and gaps for refining the design during initial implementation; providing process documentation and monitoring data for project management and later replication; and providing evidence of project significance and impacts from the perspective of various participants and stakeholders.
This is one of several CIHP efforts to provide accurate data/information for the Vietnamese Government towards the development and formulation of gender equality and GBV prevention policies and law in Vietnam.
