Call for Manuscripts in English
Special Volume on Gender, Sexuality and Sexual Health in Vietnam
with Culture, Health & Sexuality Journal.
The Project "Enhancing capacity of Vietnamese researchers on publishing and dissemination of research on gender and sexuality" (Encourages) aims to support Vietnamese researchers to produce quality research papers/articles and disseminate them effectively to researchers at national and international levels. The project is funded by Rockefeller Foundation and operated by Consultation of Investment in Health Promotion (CIHP) since November, 2003. So far, the project has been successful in encouraging researchers to produce high quality academic papers from their research and in disseminating those papers to hundreds of researchers in Vietnam in a series of papers on Gender, Sexuality and Sexual health.
As much research in Vietnam is also of value for international discussion, the Encourages project has received a significant offer of support from the editorial board of the Culture, Sexuality & Health Journal to publish a special volume on sexuality research in contemporary Vietnam, with the intention of discussing cross cutting issues on gender, culture and health.
Culture, Health & Sexuality is a leading international environment for the publication of scholarly papers in the fields of culture, health and sexuality. The journal is broad and multi-disciplinary in focus, publishing papers that deal with methodological concerns as well as those that are empirical and conceptual in nature. It offers a forum for debate on policy and practice, and adopts a practitioner focus where appropriate.
We would like to call for your attention in this special event. We find this an excellent opportunity for Vietnamese researchers to have their research reach thousands of professional, academic and private subscribers of the Culture, Sexuality & Health Journal. Moreover, for many Vietnamese researchers, this submission process will be a good experience in preparing a paper for a peer-review journal - a not always pleasant journey, but one on which there is much to learn.
Vietnamese researchers interested in publishing their work in the special volume are encouraged and invited to submit their manuscripts in English. The manuscripts should be in the field of gender, sexuality and sexual health and have not been published or under consideration by other international journals.
Manuscripts must be prepared to Culture, Sexuality & Health’s format and length (maximum 7,500 word including all references and footnotes). Please go to this link to find more guidance for author: http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/tchsauth.asp or view the information in the attached file.
Manuscripts will be firstly reviewed by a project advisory board, including national and international experts in the fields. Selected manuscripts will be sent to the journal for the whole process of peer review and revision, the normal procedure of peer review. If accepted by the project and through peer review, the papers will appear in the printed Special volume of Culture, Sexuality & Health in about June-August 2007 and on-line as other papers of the journal.
Papers that have already been published in the monograph Gender, Sexuality and Sexual Health of the Encourages project will be in priority for selection for the special volume. However, authors of these papers should revise their paper according to the Culture, Sexuality & Health format.
The project makes no promises about publication for all selected papers. However, the project will provide supports for authors to improve their papers by getting comments from advisory group, English editing, and training on writing, etc.
Please kindly send your manuscripts and brief resume to: encourages@cihp.org or at Postal Address:
