| | Empowerment, Sexuality and Gender short course, January 17-21, 2005 | | 09:34' AM - Tuesday, 12/07/2005 | |
In this workshop on gender, empowerment and sexuality in research, participants obtained critical and analytical views of gender and sexuality; learned to develop research questions based on basic theory and concepts of gender, empowerment and sexuality; and gained knowledge in appropriate data collection, analysis and interpretation.
The course was conducted by Professor Lenore Manderson, ARC Federation Fellow, School of Population Health, The University of Melbourne. Various teaching methods were employed in the course ranging from the teaching of concepts and discussions on gender and SRH rights to video presentations on gender equality, gender-based violence, abortion and sex work as seen through the lens of gender. The participants and lecturer enjoyed the open discussions about gender-based differences in social power and how economics affects concepts and practice of sex and sexuality in different settings. The discussion and role-playing activities helped the participants improve their analytical and presentation skills. | | | Total hits:
